Since 1974 KBC finishes high-performance sailcloth successfully and "sails" with them among the world leaders. The sailcloth department is the second main pillar of KBC. Sailcloth is equipped with the necessary characteristics. To produce sailcloth that fits the customers' needs exactly, it is particularly important to know its end use, as laminates, spinnakers and sails can be finished with very different processes. Colouring, finishing, impregnation and coating of the product are part of the daily business in this department and have to be adjusted to each order. Even the size and length of the boat play a role during the finishing process.

The weight per square meter of sailcloth can vary from 28 to 650 g/m², which shows how diverse and individual the work has to be. To guarantee the quality standards the department has its own testing laboratory.

Over 2 million meters of refined sailcloth are produced by KBC each year.
